1. Godan doushi (五段動詞)
Godan doushi is verb group who has U-ending (u, ru, su, tsu, mu, bu, nu, ku, gu) in their basic form / dictionary form. Example :買う=kau=to buy
取る=toru=to take
話す=hanasu=to talk
待つ=matsu=to wait
噛む=kamu=to bite
飛ぶ=tobu=to fly
死ぬ=shinu=to die
書く=kaku=to write
泳ぐ=oyogu=to swim
2. Ichidan doushi (一段動詞)
Ichidan doushi group is verb group of verbs who have commonly ~iru or ~eru ending. Example :見る=miru=to see
信じる=shinjiru=to believe
着る=kiru=to wear
起きる=okiru=to get up
忘れる=wasureru=to forget
寝る=neru=to sleep
食べる=taberu=to eat
教える=oshieru=to teach
But, there are some verbs has iru/eru ending but include to godan doushi (group 1). and the following is some of them :
知る=shiru=to know
喋る=shaberu=to chatter
帰る=kaeru=to go home/return
入る=hairu=to enter
走る=hashiru=to run
限る=kagiru=to limit
切る=kiru=to cut
要る=iru=to need
3. Fukisoku doushi (不規則動詞)
Fukisoku doushi means irregular verbs, but don't worry, in this group you must only need to remember two verbs. i.e. する dan 来る.する=suru=to do
勉強する=benkyou suru=to learn
運転する=unten suru=to drive
料理する=ryouri suru=to cook
来る=kuru=to come
