Doumo, what's up^^ guys, with me riizhu
let's learn Japanese language online here^^, the lesson today is still about prohibition and obligation, today I am going to share abbreviated versions of prohibition grammar. As usual, let's to the point, begin:
Grammar ~cha dame/ikenai/naranai (~てはだめ/いけない/ならない)
JLPT Level: -
Meaning: Must not (prohibition)
Formula: ~cha/~jaa + dame/ikenai/naranai
Explanation: Change the ending of te form + wa become cha (ちゃ) and jaa (じゃ) if the ending is de like yonde, asonde etc.
Example: tabete wa becomes tabecha, nonde wa becomes nonja. And unlike in obligation, in this grammar you cannot omit ikenai/naranai/dame.
Sentence Example:
逃げちゃだめ
nigecha dame
You can't (must not) escape
男として、泣いちゃいけない
otoko toshite, naicha ikenai
As a man, you must not cry
眠い時に運転しちゃならない
nemui toki ni unten shicha naranai
Don't (must not) drive when sleepy/tired
