All right everyone, as I promised in the day before yesterday, today, I am going to continue the lesson about
Expression of desire in Japanese language, are you ready guys^^. In the previous lesson we learned about how to express a desire and wish for nouns and verbs for first person.
And today, we are learning
how to express a desire or wish for third person^^ using hoshigatte iru (欲しがっている) and ~tagatte iru(たがっている). Oke, let's start from the first one.
The Expression of desire for third person, using hoshigatte iru for nouns
The rule in these two grammars are the same with the ~hoshii lesson, use 欲しがっている for nouns and ~たがっている for verbs, if you have understood the previous lesson about hoshii, you will understand this soon. See the formula and example below:
formula: third person + wa + noun + ga + hoshigatte iru
彼は車が欲しがっている
kare wa kuruma ga hoshigatte iru
he wants a car
彼女はJ.K Rowlingの小説が欲しがっている
kanojo wa J.K Rowling no shousetsu ga hoshigatte iru
she wants a novel of J.K Rowling
ナルトはラメンが欲しがっている
naruto wa ramen ga hoshigatte iru
naruto wants ramen
Hoshigatte iru and ~tagatte iru are progressive tense verbs, click the link above if you want to learn about present continuous tense in Japanese language, You can use the masu form to make your sentence to be polite. Example:
ナルトはラメンが欲しがっています
naruto wa ramen ga hoshigatte imasu
naruto wants ramen (polite)
彼女は新しい本が欲しがっています
kanojo wa atarashii hon ga hoshigatte imasu
she wants a new book
The Expression of desire for third person, using ~tagatte iru for verbs
And next, let's learn how to express desire for third person using ~tagatte iru for verbs, this rule is also same with ~tai desu, just attach tagatte iru to the end of the stem form verb. Here are some examples:
ナルトは火影になりたがっている
naruto wa hokage ni naritagatte iru
naruto wants to be a hokage
彼はアニメを見たがっている
kare wa anime o mitagatte iru
he wants to watch anime
And you can use masu form to make your sentence to be polite. Example:
彼女は漫画を読みたがっています
kanojo wa eiga o yomitagatte imasu
she wants to read comic/manga
ナギサは学校に行きたがっています
nagisa wa gakkou ni ikitagatte imasu
nagisa wants to go to school
All right guys, we're done with today's lesson, I hope you understood my explanation, and I hope you liked and enjoyed the lesson^^, don't forget to share this lesson if you like with your friends, till then you take care and have a great day^^ mata aou ne minna.
